Artist Roy Martin studied fine art in London Ontario, majoring in both the visual arts and music under the direction of Selwyn Dewdney and Don Wright. He, however left the field of art to pursue a career in engineering. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering. After a long absence from the arts he resumed his studies extramurally at Queen's University working primarily in oils.
Business pressure interrupted further art exposure until he retired. Since then he has been painting in watercolour and is currently studying this art form at St. Lawrence College under the direction of Margaret Grothier and Henry Vyfinkle. He also carves songbirds and waterfowl

Inge-Va
Framed Watercolour, 15x22 - $350

Description Inge-Va is the Tamal language for "Come Home". The building was erected in 1824 for the pastor of the military establishment, Reverend Michael Harris, at the building of the Rideau Canal Waterway.
The building is an example of the Colonial Georgian style of architecture popular at that time. My research of historical data indicates that the representation in my painting shows the building as it was built inl 824 and as it stands today.

Farmstead
Framed Watercolour, 15x20 - $370

This painting illustrates a winter farm scene. The picture shows the rural landscape in the late winter when the sun’s rays have begun to melt the road in places but the fields are still covered with their winter blanket of snow. A late winter sun shines across the rural fields illuminating the farmstead; the center of interest.

Earl's Barn
Framed Watercolour, 15x22 - $344

Description Often, on the road to Ottawa, on the Franktown road, I pass Earl's barn on the north side of the road about a kilometer (three-quarters of a mile) from Perth, One day this spring (2002) I stopped and asked if I could photograph the barnyard. It was so muddy that the nearest I could approach the barn was the split rail fence. This is my painting of the scene from the fence.

Morning Snow
Framed Watercolour, 15x22 - $344

Description The picture is typical of the farms in the Perth area. The artist has composed the picture from several farms on the Stanleyville road. He has shown the early morning mist that often accompanies a morning snowfall.

The Town Hall Clock Tower
Framed Watercolour, 13x22

Description The Perth Town Hall is located on Gore Street in the centre of the Perth commercial district; backing onto the John A. Stewart Memorial Park. Atop the town hall is the clock tower, built with the town hall in 1863. The clock was installed later in 1873. Note the blocked-in window shown on the painting. It was closed in earlier than 1900 for some unknown reason.
