About Perth Picture Framing
Perth Picture Framing has been established since 1997. Owner Veronica Airth previously managed a picture framing business and gallery in Toronto, but prefers to do business in Perth where creative people abound. "I think the reason you find a large number of artists in rural areas is because innovation and creativity are necessary to earn a living!" she says. Veronica believes that living outside an urban centre challenges us to be resourceful. In that sense, the picture framing business has been successful and after ten years she is ready for a new challenge. “As Perth and its region is a hot spot for good art,” she adds, “we opened Gallery Perth in July 2006. We sell original works of local and regional artists whose work is Canadian in style and a bit avant-garde.” Perth Picture Framing and Gallery Perth both operate from an updated old home on 16 Wilson Street West in Perth .
Perth Picture Framing and Gallery Perth
Perth Picture Framing: Creative designing and colour consulting are part of the services offered. Custom conservation framing and matting as well as laminating, plaque mounting and repairs are provided. Memorabilia framing and use of shadow boxes to enhance objects d' art are also offered. Cleaning and restoring of pictures and frames are specialties, along with advice on how to display art-work in your home or office. A picture hanging and placement service is available.
Perth Picture Framing recently completed an innovative framing project for the White House Annex, a part of the new Code’s Mill Inn and Spa on the Tay River in Perth . Another favourite project was for the Upper Canada District School Board where over 100 children’s paintings and drawings were framed, some of which now hang at the Board offices in Brockville .

Gallery Perth: The addition of an art gallery to Perth Picture Framing fulfills a long held dream for Veronica Airth. "We are showing Canadiana as well as the work of local artists in various media. It has long been my desire to sell and promote the work of creative people and it seems to come naturally to me. I am honoured to represent many of our local talented artists and hope to earn their respect as a Gallery owner," says Ms. Airth.
Not only has Veronica fulfilled her own dream, but she is also providing a venue for artists to show their work, and for visitors to Gallery Perth to view and purchase the work of creative and resourceful people who live locally.

Larry Bracegirdle's paintings are bathed in a warm, inviting Light: an intriguing use of paint and colour that is reminiscent of the surrealist, Salvador Dali and the realist, Johannes Vermeer. Both artists have influenced the Bracegirdle style which is apparent in his delightful interiors.
His “Modern-Old-Master” approach has become Larry's signature which he has developed over 30 years, and to which he owes his success. Several Canadian galleries own Larry's work, along with many private collectors throughout Canada and the world.
John Mlacak is a passionate outdoor oil painter. His work captures both the bold and subtle colours of the Canadian seasons and the vibrant red and green roofs of Quebec farm buildings like this wonderful rendering of a sugar bush in the making of maple syrup entitled : La sucrerie, Chénéville.
Katherine McNenly is a contemporary, realist artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from York University, Toronto. Instructed by fine art teachers in Toronto, Florence Italy and New York City, Katherine continues to be a student as well as an instructor of art. Her commitment to her work is apparent in the number of shows she attends where she has received several prestigious awards. Bonnie's paintings are beautifully executed using oils, charcoal, graphite, conte and mixed media watercolour. Her detailed portraits are of genuine likeness.
Bonnie Brooks says: "In my acrylic tree paintings, I explore sunlight and shadow on the landscape. I enjoy the rhythm of repeated tree trunks casting their shadows across a sunny laneway or open fields. The sensation of the colour, shadow and rhythm is important not the description of an actual place. The outcome of the painting is often determined by the initial underwashes of colour. This involves laying the canvas on the studio floor and allowing liquid colour to flow, smudge and splatter across the surface. These washes guide me toward the direction that the painting will take. Eventually I will set the canvas on an easel and work vertically with thicker paint. Working quickly prevents me from over-thinking and allows for free spontaneous reactions. I want the paint to look like paint, splatters and brushstrokes are still evident upon the painting completion."
Gordon Harrison finds inspiration and colour in the landscape that surrounds him and in locales important to his life, such as the Ottawa Valley, the Gatineau Mountains and the Laurentians. He has also found inspiration in the landscapes of Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, the Charlevois region, Georgian Bay and the Lake Superior's Algoma region and the Prairies. He uses these inspirations as his subject matter, recreating them through his own vision.
