Margaret Graeb, BA AOCA
Following her retirement from social work in 1980, Peg returned to a long-held interest in art and in botany, particularly the identification of native wildflowers. After taking some watercolour courses, she studied botanical art under a number of outstanding instructors, including Dorothy Bovey, Pamela Stagg, and Celia Godkin.
She has exhibited her paintings in botanical art shows in Canada, the United States, and in Great Britain. In 1996, she was awarded the Bronze Grenfell Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society, England, for her paintings of pelargoniums. A painting of hers is in the permanent collection of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg, U.S.A. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, 1957, she was awarded its medal for proficiency in sculpture. She worked as a sculptor for several years after graduation, and had her work shown in Toronto and a number of other Ontario cities. For a time she was a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada.
She is presently a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists. She lives in Toronto.
